It’s Not the Camera | Flying (again)

The mountain view from way up high

I took this featured image on my flight to Las Vegas this past February to the yearly WPPI convention.  As I posted here – I was overwhelmed with a rush of mixed feelings fueled by the adrenaline.  The anticipation and other undefinable emotions that all add up to excitement was fueling my energy that whole day, what an interesting few days in my life!  The start of a strong year professionally…

Fast forward to today.  Downloading the images off my camera on to my computer’s hard drive, I came across this shot.  To be honest I really don’t remember snapping it (what can I say…I was a frenzy of nervous energy AND I had been up since o’dark thirty to fly out early that day!) – but I am totally in love with it.  Something about the mountaintops from this vantage point feels surreal and insightful (in a weird way).

I remember long ago hearing a quote and it has always stuck with me.  It has been attributed to Leonardo DaVinci but the research indicates it was not him that shared this knowledge and attributing it to him is a misquote.  Regardless it speaks truth, I cannot help but always cast my eyes upward.  Does not matter how many times I fly – every time I do there is some exciting reason for it and every flying experience is a new experience for me.

“When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” -Anonymous

I wish for you, my readers, to have a day filled with new experiences today.  Go out of your way to find something new to feel, see, touch or a new place to wander.  It’s good for the soul.
