ABOUT THE ARTIST

I picked up the camera for the first time when I was about 5 years old. I was in kindergarten and my brother brought home his brand new Canon AE-1. He let me lift it up to my eye while he held onto the heavy body of the camera, I remember feeling the roughness of the strap on my neck as I lifted the camera to look through the viewfinder. I distinctly remember the sound as I clicked the shutter button (probably didn't have whatever I shot in focus even). All these years later it's funny that I remember those moments as if they happened yesterday - I know now that the magic I felt then was because I already realized the possibilities of photography: the capture of just a moment is an amazing gift. The ability see what no one else may see - to record that briefest of moments forever -- it's the same magic that drives me to photograph today.

I specialize in photographing children and families. My goal is to create portrait art with each session. I also photograph a limited number of weddings yearly. I am available by appointment only. Because of the specialized nature of my work I take on a limited number of sessions. Dear Photographer,

I am proud to be part of this amazing industry. Although there are changes that we are all weathering I have full confidence that equipped with the right know how my photography friends, mentees and workshop students will get through this rough time.

My work is well known within the genre of Children's Photography and I have owned and operated Marmalade Photography since 2005. I opened the Wilmington studio in early 2007. Also in 2007 I helped pioneer the Professional Child Photography FAQ for clients & photographers, a vital and well used resource by many in our industry.

For the past four years I have hosted numerous photographer for 1:1 mentoring sessions & workshops here at the studio. If you would like to host a workshop and can get a minimum of 8-12 people involved I'm also open to traveling throughout the U.S. and come to you.
