I may be a little emotional because this young man is going to be a senior this year…and well…I’ve been photographing him since he was 3 months old. Frankly this is kind of messing with my head.

You’d think that I didn’t have two young adults of my own, one already married and all, but something about seeing one of my Marmalade Kids graduate from “wee one” to about to be a high school senior that is both amazingly awesome and a total mind freak.

Total. Mind. Freak.

Noah you are awesome. I’ve never not had fun photographing you. Your personality is as big as your smile. Your heart is gold. You are a caring and good human being. Your family must be so proud of all that you are. Personally? I cannot wait to see the incredible things you do in this life. I have loved seeing you grow up. I literally got to see your first steps, which was just crazy timing on your parents end and kind of insane all at once.

Both you and Marmalade kind of grew up together. Weird, huh?

Truly you are a gift as is your beautiful mom and the rest of the adults who have helped shape you into this young adult that you are becoming.

Blessings upon blessings. I am truly humbled and honored to have been able to photograph you pre-senior year. Class of 2024…back in 2006 when I first met you I would have never guessed we would be here so quick. Gosh, here we are!

Sneak peeks for this Naperville Central Senior. Thank you Kim, Nala, Noah (Bailey and Stella too, they were good babies!). We never not have fun doing this photography thing and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to photograph you all along.

Much love, luck and fun to you this final year of high school!

Yes yes I played as Naperville High School Senior Photographer during this session but I also played Antioch newborn and toddler photographer, Glenview Child photographer and Naperville family photographer during the Noah era. 🙂 Here’s a quick flashback because I simply cannot help myself 🙂

A couple of weeks back I traveled to the River North area on a beautiful summer evening to meet with Sara and Jordan to create some beautiful moments and capture their relationship before the full on craziness of planning a wedding hits really hard.

I’ve known Sara for years and it’s such a pleasure to be able to see her grow up into a beautiful young woman with a radiant smile…Jordan’s a lucky guy for sure!

Thank you Sara, Jordan and family for all the fun memories I’ve shared with you all these past years. It was an honor to capture some beautiful engagement photos for you.

Are you getting married? Are you looking for a photographer that has extensive experience in dark corners and places? LOL…for years I had taken event photos at the Metro in the almost dark for toddler dance parties (Baby Loves Disco), I have become great at creating images in the near dark!

I have been busily working on my new website, branding and client site. It’s been a *process*. The hardest of all this has been taking my 18 years of professional photography work and distilling it into bite sized pieces.

I’ve been known to say “This is one of my favorite images!” and honestly if I say it it’s absolutely true. I live for moments, for beautiful intangible (unless photographed) moments and sometimes there is this SPARK of magic that hits just right and gets me in my feels.

So imagine innumerable photographs needing to be distilled into a bite sized glimpse of what I’ve done over the years…all the families I’ve adopted into my own by way of professional photography.

I am taking this time to say thank you. This is likely one of the few last posts on this version of the blog before I transition over to a site with a new blog attached. I’ve had to do server upgrades and have lost my old website, thankfully the one I have up now is a temporary fix of a site I never really used, but technology continues to march on. Hopefully this one can be transitioned over and maintained for awhile longer as I love the memories and frankly it’s been around with me since almost the beginning back in 2005. Thank you for visiting and I hope we get to catch up soon!!

A blast from the past!! It was so wonderful to see this young lady, all grown up, almost ready to take on the world after a “few” years.

Back in 2008 when MY Littles were still Littles I had the pleasure of photographing quite a few “Sisters” sessions. One of my very favorites shot at our Wilmington, IL photography studio was with P & her sister. Some of the images were showcased on my previous website for many years so those of you who have followed Marmalade Photography for a little while may be familiar with the sweet faces I am about to show you.

THEN (the first two are of our HS senior!):

Two young sisters sitting in an old rustic doorway

Annnnnnd…back to the “future” (er it’s the past but at the moment it was the present……) 🙂

Thank you to P & Andria for selecting Marmalade Photography to capture her Valley High School Senior photos – Class of 2023 – your time is coming!!!

Marmalade Photography creates one of a kind portrait sessions for new moms!

Olivia is a long time personal favorite of mine and when she asked me to photograph her maternity portraits I could not say no! Not to dear beautiful Olive! So instead of a typical sneak peek of 2 or 3 images I am going to feature a half a dozen or so of my favorites from her amazing outdoor autumn maternity photography session. We really could not have asked for a better day…maybe it was a little cold but October is still cooperating for beautiful fall colors here in the Southwest Suburbs…and ultimately we all suffer for art 🙂 Just kidding…there was no suffering involved, maybe just a bit of shivering!!

“Children bring us a piece of heaven on earth.” – Roland Leonhardt

I was blessed to be able to photograph this baby’s mama and dad a few weeks back for M’s maternity session and finally was able to meet this little guy this past weekend! When you hold a newborn you suddenly are humbled as you remember how very small we all make our start in this life…and how truly amazing it is that we each can make such a huge impact on the world!

Thank you M & P for allowing me into your little world for a wee bit of time to honor the early days of baby R’s life. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to document the relationship and bonds that are literally forming in front of my camera when a new life is “in the picture”. Baby R is such a lucky little baby to have such an amazing family to grow up into, I cannot begin to describe the beautiful family bonds forming and all the love I felt during this photo session. It is always an honor to document love, relationship and family.

Here are just a few quick sneak peeks of this relationship style Minooka newborn photography session.
