Yesterday we got a (rare) opportunity to hang out as a family in the city. We went to Lincoln Park Zoo for the bulk of the morning after the WGN Kid’s Fair (a few highlights for the BLD family below). There we spent some time with the polar bears:
and at the conservatory:
but before we did any of that we did Baby Loves Disco for a few minutes on stage at the WGN Kid’s Fair::
and before all of this happened, the sun rose (at a ridiculously early hour) over the City of Chicago, one of the greatest cities ever (I may be a bit biased since I’ve lived in the area my whole life but no matter, it truly is…) Somehow images don’t do moments like this justice:
(and actually traffic was not that bad on the Eden’s)
finally, my friend Terrilyn had this on her blog and I’ve seen (and never shared) before…get your tissues, it’s a bit heartwrenching:
Thanks for stopping in. Namaste.
Looks like such a fun day! I love the polar bear pics. 🙂
The polar bear pics took my breath away. Amazing! The Baby Loves Disco day looked like lots of fun!
Gorgeous Mare! Love those first two… amazing shots.
Ok that baby loves disco stuff looks like fun! Chaos, but fun! lol
And can I just say that the second image, the close up of the polar bear. . . WOW! OMGOsh that is one COOL photograph! I seriously love that! Should totally be on the zoo’s brochures!
These are great! I love the polar bear images. So do you take your SLR with you do the zoo? I am such a whimp and always leave it behind for my P&S – which never does what I want it to. 🙁
Ohh Mare..the photos with the girls and the polar bear.. Uhhhh just brilliant.. I love them and the orchids that first one looks alive.. like in a fairies dream you are seriously just amazing.. glad you all had fun.

Looks like you all had fun yesterday. I am another one in awe of that second polar bear image. Very cool capture.
OH man, I was at the Lincoln Park zoo on the same day as one of my favorite photographers! Wonderful shots! Wish I had known about the BLD, it looks like so much fun!
carol, is it river road…on the way to the pna camp…that road. there’s that one waterfall that you have to be walking to appreciate. we walked ALOT on the way to the old (i hope this is right) countryside shopping center and to the that little variety store that used to be right by the river (long gone but not forgotten). man they made us walk alot back then. 😀
I LOVE those bear pics. I quickly stopped by yesterday and didn’t leave a comment…but I couldn’t get them out of my head all day yesterday. ha ha! Just magical! I wanted to make sure I didn’t let today go by w/out taking the time to tell you how much I love them! 🙂
