    me, me, pick me!! 🙂

Marmalade Photography has been undergoing some behind-the-scenes revamping, it’s always exciting to be bringing new products and new ideas to the table.  2009 is going to be an exciting year, I can just feel it!!  Just a couple notes of random…

Regular session bookings for May and June are booking out like mad.  I don’t know what’s in the Chicagoland water this past two weeks but I’ve had a mad rush of bookings!  That’s a good thing but it’s also a heads up warning to anyone wanting to take advantage of the fabulous May and June light and more mild temps.  There are only two weekend session times available for May remaining and a handful of June dates.  I tell you…it’s a fabulous problem to have!  Call 815.603.8450 to book a session.

•  Also, this is a biggie for some of my clients for Spring/Summer/Fall 2009, I am limiting the number of ON LOCATION sessions available to one weekend day and a handful of weekday times monthly.  Keep this in mind when scheduling a booking.

I have been a slacker during my last few weeks off from shooting, it’s been nice to just dedicate myself to my long (rapidly disappearing) list of to dos.  My kids are enjoying spring break this week, I hope to get them out and do some shooting with them, it’s been several months since I really dedicated any time to shooting with them.

On that note my 9 year old is experimenting with photography like nobody’s business – she got a Kodak point & shoot for her birthday.  She loves LOVES the video mode on it.  It really is amazing to see how creative she is (remarkable really) and how into photography she is at such an early age.  I can’t see where her creativity takes her.

Last month, right before I took time off, I dragged my youngest out to the studio for a "mini session".  It didn’t go remarkably well as she was SO not into it but….BUT this shot has me giggling.   I still have a ton to edit but this one made me laugh off the bat.  One of my good friends says she looks like my mom here, not sure about THAT but nonetheless…

I know that *I* probably look like that sometimes, "Ok now, hurry this up!"  LOL   Oh the life of a photographer’s kid.

And finally —-

The perfect Mother’s Day Gift (for you or for someone you love…)  Limited Edition Mommy & Me sessions are filling up quickly!  Currently only April 4 times are available!!  Call today to book before it’s too late.  Details here.

Thanks for stopping in.  I’m enjoying the break in the weather and am hoping that SPRING HAS FINALLY ARRIVED in the area.  Let’s cross our fingers that it’s finally here.

Who would not want a Marmalade session for Mother’s Day? I’m sure you are selling out these sessions. Love your work.

this pic if beautiful. it’s the classic “look” as you said. I certainly got a few of them during my two girls growing years. Sadly I don’t get much opportunity to photograph them these days – mid-twenties and all photographed out they say. [Except of course for the really special occasions!]

Follow over to our See the Light Workshop site for more details on 2009 workshop weekend dates and further information on itinerary.

2009 workshop dates

Had to do a quick correction on the June dates.  June 13-14 are the RIGHT dates, we had to change the weekend due to overbookings at area hotels.

I look forward to meeting some of my loyal blog readers at this workshop.  Can’t wait to meet you!

How exciting!! If anyone can help a photographer find the light, you can. This is one workshop I wouldn’t hesitate to spend money on. The real deal, not a pile of fluff.

I am so excited to announce 2009’s first Ltd Session Event being held on two Saturdays in April.  April 4 and April 18 are the two days set aside for this very special Limited Edition Session.

  • WHAT IS A LTD EDITION SESSION?  quite simply it’s a taste of Marmalade Photography experience.  A typical Marmalade Photography session lasts about an hour or more and clients are presented with approximately 35 images.  Session fees start at $195.  With this Limited Edition Session you experience a shorter session time (20 minutes), are presented with a gallery of about 10-12 images and a complimentary 11×14.
  • I DON’T WANT TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED but I DO WANT MY CHILD TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED, is that possible?  I encourage moms to participate but am not making mom participation mandatory.  However, I speak from experience, moms do not get in on the photographic action often enough and I am offering this opportunity as the perfect Mom’s Day gift.  Think of it as the ultimate gift to your children.  When they are grown and married they can look back on this photograph as special mom time.  You took time out of your busy life to create a memory of yourself with them.  There is nothing more cherished in my home than my portraits with my children that I had professionally created.  I assure you that your children will cherish these just as much as you will.
  • WHAT ARE THE DETAILS?  see below!!  🙂
  • CALL TODAY!  815.603.8450   Have your credit card handy and a few minutes to discuss some little detail.
  • Typically these sessions book quickly and as they are limited only a select number of first come first served clients will be able to participate!

A colleague of mine, Pam posted this the other day on her blog.  I think it’s a beautiful reminder of what memory making is all about.  Brought to you by the good people at Kodak.

Clients will often write me notes of thank you for capturing moments/expressions/mannerisms that they may not have captured and also to say thank you for reminding them about the beauty of just being.  The beauty of a photograph is that it says to the subject: YOU MATTER, WE LOVE YOU.  After the subject is long gone it is a testimony to their life and proof that they were here and they made a difference in the world.  This clip says it all for me, ever so much more eloquently and with more feeling than I ever could.
