I had the pleasure of hanging out and photographing this happy couple’s maternity photography session this weekend.  They came out from Clarendon Hills to have their pregnancy photos taken at one of their most treasured of spots: in the very spot they were married at.  We were in the most gorgeous of settings amongst all sorts of spring blooms and created some gorgeous art together.  Thank you to both Liz and Tim for trusting me with these precious maternity photos, enjoy your sneak peek!

    These are lovely pictures!

We were on location this past week creating some gorgeous images for A’s First Communion photos.  What a blast and a new challenge to create these on location photos in Elmhurst inside a church in the late afternoon low light environment.

I had the pleasure of seeing little A for a session just for her featuring her beautiful First Communion dress for her upcoming big day!  Thank you Nikki for having me out on location in beautiful Elmhurst for this special photography session.  I hope you enjoy this sneak peek of A in her gorgeous Communion dress at the church (inside and outside).  Thank you!!

This was one incredibly fun family, it is/was an honor to create beautiful baby photos and family photos for them at their at home photo session on the North Side of Chicago.   We had all the elements of a great photo session:  one gorgeous big sister, a silly little brother and a sweet, cuddly (and just adorably chubby) one month old baby girl.  Oh and some  great looking parents!  Thank you Nikki and family for having me out to photograph your gorgeous children and have me part of your world for the morning.  I had a blast this past weekend creating photos in my role as infant and family photographer with this family!

Here is your sneak peek of your combination baby and family photo session in Chicago.  Enjoy!!

Thank you!!

Finally I want to include this really great video from Canon (my favorite in case you were wondering!!)

If you’re looking for a location shoot at your home look no further than here, this infant photographer shoots in Chicago and other metro Chicago areas.  Check out our extensive baby gallery on our main site at www.marmaladephotography.com

It’s no secret that some of my favorite photographs during Chicago family photography sessions include mother and child portraits.  I’ve photographed multitudes of families over the years and it’s one of my fondest wishes for photography sessions to include mothers with their children.  In fact I am so passionate about moms being involved in photo sessions that at a photographer’s retreat in Colorado a few summers ago I took it upon myself to persuade the mom of one of our models for that weekend to take part in posing for a serene water pool photo with her daughter.  My belief is that ANY opportunity presented where a photo can be taken with you and your children you should take it.   At one point the only things that are left are photographs (and videos, more on that later) and it’s so very important to leave those memories for your children.

I have also committed to my mom clients and I tell each and every one of them: I promise to create beautiful compelling photos that include you: be it as the focal point OR as a prop for the baby (some moms feel more comfortable being secondary in focus).  I assure you, my reader, that I will create gorgeous portraits that capture both your bond with your children AND the beautiful person that YOU are (both as a woman and as a mom).

Today I came across this beautiful article that features the viewpoint of a daughter whose mother passed away when she was all too young.  It simply reinforces my belief that a photo including mom is never a photo wasted.  It’s important to put aside our own body issues, our issues with aging, our issues with the size of our waistline and remember when we contribute our beautiful faces to an image taken with our children it is ultimately for THEM that we do it.  No one else.

Link to the article is below.  But first some gorgeous mother – child photos taken over the past year or so:

Since the inception of Marmalade Photography in 2005 we have always taken the during our suburban and Chicago family photography sessions to create mother-child images as we know that mom is usually BEHIND the camera.  We take care to photograph moms from the best angles and to make sure mom looks her very best.  If you’re ready for a Chicago family photography session (or somewhere in the burbs!) give us a call at 815-603-8450 to schedule your very own family photos with Marmalade Photography.

I encourage you to take the 5 minutes to read this heart felt article: DON’T DISAPPEAR FROM THE PICTURES

Are you looking to create some beautiful and personality filled graduation photos in Chicagoland?  You’re in for a treat!!  A bit of a preview for my oldest’s 8th grade graduation photos.

My oldest (pictured as a baby below) is graduating junior high May of 2014!  I cannot believe how time has flown by so quickly, I am so glad that we have a great mix of photos from when she was a baby (when I was an amateur with a camera), a large variety of professional photos (taken through the years way before I became a professional photographer) and then once I started Marmalade Photography: a great mix of my own snapshots and professional quality portraits as well as great images as taken by some fellow professional photographers like my talented photographer friends Lauri Baker and Pam Biasotti .

But this post isn’t about the past (except to showcase a then and now transformation).  It’s about the first part of my girls’ 8th grade photo session.  She wanted to do some images in the snow and we captured these on (hopefully) one of the last snow days!  We were attacked by the trees tossing down snow as the temperature increased but it was well worth it to capture the many moods of my gorgeous teenager!!

Thanks for stopping in to view these.  First I will include a quick snapshot from when she was about 8 months old.  Look at that gorgeous face!! (excuse the snapshot quality!)

From late 2000: SUCH A CUTIE PIE!!  They grow up too too quick.

Here are her beautiful 8th grade portraits in the snow, as always her gallery is filled with a fun mix of personality shots as well as what you expect from a typical portrait session:
