Tonight’s session was with one of the sweetest babies ever with the nicest parents! Miss M came to the studio to play and explore (and to taste! boy did she ever!!) and hang out with ole Marmalade. Dare I say we had a good time? Yes I dare say that!

I enjoyed meeting Miss M, her parents Denise and Jeff and hanging out with them for a few hours while exploring some of these early months of Miss M’s life. I love this age but yeah, with this age a full 5 years behind me (I can’t believe it!) I forget how busy the 6 month old set can be!! Tasting, exploring, bending, twisting, trying to find their way. It’s an amazingly fun age and Miss M was incredibly patient with us in between exploratory moments…she was especially patient with me and my black box of a camera!!  Nonetheless, 6 months is a fantastic time for baby’s portraits, still little enough to cuddle but fun enough to really react to what’s going on around them.  Definitely a great time to capture in portraits…this stage passes all too quickly in my opinion (once they get mobile, that’s it!  They’re off and running.)

Thanks again to her family for coming out.  Well? What’s stopping you from the big scroll down to see the sneaks?

Boa Baby

Keeping it short & sweet because, gosh, I’m really tired tonight. I feel like I’ve been burning the candle at both ends this past week and a half and it’s finally catching up to me! Tomorrow is yet another busy day!

(quick update: October has some weekend availability remaining as there was a quick switcheroo done this past week. If you’re interested in booking a weekend session, give a call to book! :))

Thanks for stopping in!

xoxo, Mare

Seriously. Perfection in so many ways. This afternoon’s session was wonderful. I had a blast getting to know The A Family…their session today was just pure, sweet and fun. Thanks to my new friends S, J, R & M (who, btw, stole my heart) and their parents. Thanks for welcoming me into your lives this afternoon and allow me to capture your world together, living in beautifully historic and charming Geneva.

Also a big thank you to Dannell and Co. ;)  You know why.

So, wait you waiting for (love the Vivienne Westwood costumes there with the surreal colors, ;))? Sneak peeks below!!

wow. WOW. first, i found your site several months ago and each time I come to your site I am just completely blown away with your style, your take on life. your style is something that is so unique, fun and frivolous but yet sassy and simply stunning. thank you for sharing your gift, love your points of view take on your sessions.

If I could call the forest anything this early autumn it would be that. I wasn’t kidding several posts ago about the way the forest is just laid out in white flowered splendor. I adore this time of year, late September is, in my opinion, the most fascinating time for shooting sessions. The light and the environment just are amazing.

Speaking of amazing, I had a session tonight with a family that was quite beautiful and amazing. It was a blast getting to know J, D, J, their mom Lisa and of course nanny G. I loved meeting all of you and had a blast tonite exploring the forest during the best time of the year for flowers….I *know* that J #1 & D were on the look out for yellow flowers (and I’m sure there were some) but what they were greeted with was acres upon acres of dainty white flowers, it felt like cloud land–on the ground of course–little puffs of white buds everywhere. Simply beautiful.  And thank you for coming out for a Forest Session with Marmalade from Naperville.
A big thanks to them for coming out this evening and for allowing me to photograph most of the family. I am so excited to present some amazing images from nothing short of an awesome session. Enjoy!

These are beautiful, I love the last one with the lake.. just amazing work girl

The parents of my session today will totally understand today’s blog title ;). For the rest of you out there, it was fortuitous that I left home in such a rush that, half way up the Stevenson I realized I left without THE lens I shoot indoors with.  Grrrr….so I was forced to go to Mecca Calumet Photo in the city to get the lens I had been coveting for quite awhile now, sort of needing the excuse that I could, um, (for lack of better terminology) perform today.  I heard angels singing on high as I walked into the Chicago store, much much poorer as I exited Mecca the store I felt, somehow, at peace.  My photog friends out there that are reading will understand this as well: got the Jill E. medium black leather bag as well.  Sweet!!

Ahhhh, shopping therapy.

Regardless mistake, stress, therapy, happiness…I have fallen in love. Not with just this new lens, nope, but with R, my newest pal. He was SO funny, so filled with laughter and joie de vivre that it was truly infectious and I drove home from the North Side with a big ole grin on my face the whole drive. A big thank you to his gorgeous parents for welcoming me into their home and into their lives to get a glimpse of what life is like with this adorable 6 month old.

Ok, enough gabbing, here’s some sneak peeks. ENJOY!

I am not a person who is easily delighted but I have to say your work blew me away. So much ideas and relevant detaisl that you put into it made me see your point of view. Thanks for communicating your reasonable inputs.

Quick update: there are only a couple of sessions still available for October, if you are interested please contact 815.603.8450 asap to reserve the available sessions. I have made my availability more accessible during this month and I have only these few dates left for booking. If you are interested in spectacular autumn colors as the backdrop of your session, I suggest a forest Marmalade Location session. This is where the bulk of sessions took place last fall, due to the simple fact…forest = leaves changing. In the fall, the colors there are amazing! Just last night I took a bike ride through the forest and the awesome white flowers are totally in bloom (usually they aren’t flowering until October)!! (you can see what the forest looked like this September by scrolling down and seeing several images from a session that is in proofing right now if you’d like). There are still dates available in November, the cut off for Holiday Cards and Gifts is November 11.

You may access the updated newsletter for Fall 2007 here. I have some news in there regarding introductory in studio (no outdoor stuff!) offerings for a limited number of sessions. These sessions will allow for one outfit change and about an hour’s time. Very exciting stuff. I promise though, these will not be your typical studio photographs!! The plan is vintage, funky, somewhat modern, not typical but always fun! Great for newborns, not quite running toddlers, preschoolers and older kids. Also on the horizon are senior sessions (high school seniors…NOT the geriatric type!) and teen sessions. I am very VERY excited about these new dimensions to the Marma-offerings!

Marmalade’s Girl #1

So I promised, so I will deliver. Thanks to Debbie and her family for coming out for a forest session several weeks ago. They just are starting the process for image previews….Debbie emailed me this morning, loving her images. Debbie, I hope you don’t mind if I share a snippet of your email here:

All I can say is that Mark and I were speechless when we saw the pictures. Beautiful image after beautiful image. Thank you!

Thank you for making my day! Here’s a couple of the images from their forest session, again a thanks to them for driving out from Lake County (IL) for our session together:

Thanks for stopping in!

Next Client Q&A will be in the next week or so with Lora (mom of the three adorable triplets partly featured on the slideshow locations area). We’ll be Q&Aing her on her topic of specialty: speech therapy. Her focus is on autism and speech apraxia. As a bonus, Lora was kind enough to snap photos of her gallery of Marmalade images from this spring (I rec’d the images yesterday…THANK YOU, they look gorgeous and I cannot wait to show them off to everyone!)

Til we meet again!

xoxo, Mare
