Q: What is a Marmalade Photography photo session like?
Photo sessions are essentially fun playdates, Marianne has no problem getting on your child’s level to connect with and explore your child’s personality through the lens. Our sessions are filled with fun and are very laid back, organically capturing images of your family being who they are is what we are most known for. We strive to make these sessions enjoyable for every one involved (especially dad!). Because every child has their own make believe world we strive to showcase who they are at this current stage. Please bring, to your session, anything that would have meaning to you (or your little one) – a favorite teddy bear or blanket, a family heirloom : we enjoy showcasing these little bits of history for our clients.
Q: What time of day do you typically like to schedule the session?
Generally, on location sessions are scheduled in the mid to late morning. Marmalade Location sessions take advantage of late afternoon/early evening light.
Q: How far in advance should I book my Marmalade Photography session?
Typically anywhere from 2-4 weeks in advance. In the busy fall season sessions fill up quickly about one to two months in advance
Q: Will Marmalade Photography accommodate a photo session on the weekend?
Yes, on a limited basis we have weekend availability in addition to our usual weekday schedule.
Q: What is included in the session fee?
We have a couple of options. Our Signature Session is our most popular option and includes Marmalade Photography’s session fee includes the time and talent of the photographer during our photo shoot as well as your pre-session consultation, and your private phone ordering appointment. All products both digital and print are sold a la carte. Session fees reserve your date and time and are non-refundable. Please refer to the INVESTMENT section for more details.
Q: What are your most favorite ages and milestones to capture?
Marianne’s favorite ages to capture are newborn (around 7-10 days old), three months, seven months, and one year. Then once yearly up until age 5 or 6. Having said that any age and stage is worth capturing, time passes too quickly not to capture the moment so please don’t feel you need to be on a certain schedule.
Some clients prefer to have Marmalade Photography capture their children during certain stages in their childhood rather than a given age. For instance many clients have, through the years, sought sessions with Marmalade several times during their children’s babyhood, then during toddler hood, preschool age, then early school age. They may skip a few years and our next session may be while their child is pre-middle school, middle school and once during their teen years with plans to be photographed by Marmalade Photography for their high school senior photos.
Q: Do you offer digital files?
Digital files are available, but they are not among our favorite speciality products offered within our studio. Why? The answer is simple – digital files/images are an incomplete product. The majority of our clients love the finished art work we create and seek our technical knowledge, attention to detail and eye for color, constrast, saturation & sharpness in their finished art pieces. Many clients feel large wall portraits should be signed and certified by the photographer, we do this for every larger print we produce for our clients. This ensures that our exacting standards for quality are met for the art you place on display in your home.
We are a boutique studio that specializes in creating custom pieces for clients: heirloom albums, beautiful art pieces that are featured in our client’s homes. Our clients typically order a combination of large prints, small prints and albums. Digital files are amongst our premium priced options.
Q: What if it rains or my child is sick on our scheduled session date?
We check our schedules 24 hours in advance and look at the potential for rain during a scheduled session date, we assess the situation and if rain is a strong possibility (or it rains the morning of) Marianne will work with you to reschedule your session around her next available date.
For illnesses please contact us asap and we will rework you into the schedule. Marianne tries to not photograph sick littles as it truly shows up in the photographs.
Q: How quickly after my session can I see the images?
Images are available for viewing within two to three weeks of your session. You will have about 4 days to view your images online before our phone ordering appointment.
Q: How quickly will I receive my order once I place it?
We will have a phone ordering session together to place your order. At that time Marianne will be happy to answer any questions or create any quick mock ups or submit to you via email any cropping issues you should be aware of. Payment is due at the time of your order placement and you should receive your images within 3-5 weeks of your phone ordering appointment.
Q: What is your favorite product offering?
Marianne loves creating custom wall galleries for her clients as well as creating gorgeous Signature Gallery Albums which hold a number of images for a perfect life long keepsake.
