Before I left for the NorthWoods I had crisis after crisis occur with my site (still not totally fixed 🙂 ) and a ton of sessions and a ton of to do’s.  So I apologize if I am a little behind and take full responsibility for being a bit haphazard the week prior to vacation.  I cannot believe how everything rained down on me.   Ugh.  Better to make lemonade out of lemons tho…

So before I get to any real discussions of vacation let me premiere my last sessions leading up to pre-vacation.  First up: Baby R.   You may remember her mom, I had the pleasure of photographing during her beautiful mama for her maternity images.  Baby Girl is just two weeks old in these images.  Welcome to the world oh beautiful one, I think you’ll find this place amazing, beautiful and filled with great things.  It was a pleasure meeting you and hanging out with you.

Vacation was pure delight.  I adored everything about it.  It took me DAYS to unwind and I think I slept most of my time there.  I got to read a book (in less than 24 hours, I devoured it, it’s My Best Friend’s Girl, really a good beach read).  I haven’t really developed any images but I do have one courtesy of the ole iPhone highlighting the dock & our boat (that we don’t use enough, IMO)!  😀   Ahhh the beauty in kicking back and letting the world pass you by.

Thanks for stopping in.  More and more and more in the coming week…

Namaste.

These are just wonderful. I LOVE the doggie shot, how funny the ‘first babies’ get when their world is turned upside down 🙂 And your photo from your vacation is perfect. I want to sit on a beach and read, too!

The one with that cute little dog made me laugh out loud. You know he’s saying – there goes my thunder!

  • Pammy - July 9, 2008 - 11:49 am

Oh…I have been away too long. Lovely as usual. Of course the dog photo is my favorite. But, they are all good. Website looks awesome!

  • Jen Lane - July 30, 2008 - 6:39 pm

OK Mare. You have been BUSY.
Your blog is just full of gorgeous, wonderful moments caught by you, turned into art pieces by you.
I’d see a series and think, “ok, let me leave a comment”, but then I’d peek down just a bit further and get distracted with the next beautiful series! Your vacation looks just amazing. And all of these beautiful families that you’ve spent time with, photographing and laughing, must be so tickled with their images!
    Beautiful work!

I will be travelling out of state for the next few weeks time.  I will be back in office on July 7.

You may have noticed we have a new look.  It was entirely an unexpectedly early take on this adventure so it is not quite ready but it sort of has to be.  For a look at the barebones of the site (still some sections missing) please take a look at

Marmalade Photography

I previously mentioned that I had a huge website debacle.  Well lit continued and progressed so the new site made its’ appearance sooner than I would’ve cared to do.  Nonetheless, like a baby that is on its’ way I’m happy.  I think you will like it as well.

I am behind on several sneak peeks for sessions of this week.  I promise they will go up sometime a week after Monday.

All calls & emails will be answered after July 7th for inquiries and such.

Thank you.  Have a great couple weeks sans Marma-blogging.  And because no post is complete without a pic…here are a couple from Yellowstone ’07.

    seriously??? i am soo sorry….

  • elizabeth - June 18, 2008 - 6:38 am

Freakin computers… sigh.. sorry to hear

It seems very appropriate that the session that ties in to my Mother’s Day post last month is highlighted today, on Father’s Day.    🙂

I travelled to Barlett yesterday to do a session with the fabulous (FABULOUS!) P Family and their almost brand new baby boy.  A big congrats to them and also a huge thank you from me because I am truly lucky to have made it into this warm, caring family’s life by way of being their photographer for a couple sessions (and hopefully many more).  Their baby, A, is an amazingly sweet soul who put up with me and the big black box covering my face for 3/4 of the time together.  A is truly a lucky guy, growing up with terrific parents like N&N.

So Happy Father’s Day to you all.  And the gift of a sneak peek of brand new life….welcome to the world, A.  We are glad you are here….I wish for you that you find beauty, hope and have luck with everything you do.

As I was driving home yesterday this came on the radio and I thought to myself…oh yeah!!  Dug this up on YouTube and thought to myself, I wonder what the years did to Ian Asbury…last I heard he was doing some front man work for The Doors….hmmmm….something to go ahead and research.

  • Cindy - June 15, 2008 - 8:38 pm

    Siiiiiigh.
OK, when I saw the second image (over on your new site!) I GASPED out loud. I swear I did. The dog sat up and gave me a very annoyed look for disturbing her sleep.
Mare, that is one of the MOST beautiful, rich, gorgeous newborn images I have ever seen. I mean that. The color is amazing. The luxury of all that fabric is amazing. The utter BEAUTY of that baby is amazing.
    Very well done!

Yes bloggers, you read that right.   Missouri.  😀

Thank you to Erin, Scott & their gorgeous three kids who made the trek of all treks out to the studio Thursday evening for a Marmalade Waterfall Session.  The images are fabulous and they were so very sweet to me (even if chocolate melted and a/c decided to take a hike).  I hope they enjoy their time in Illinois however short it may be.

Here’s their sneak peek!  Enjoy.
