I had the great pleasure of seeing KC & his lovely mom yesterday morning.  We kept getting ‘rained out’ for sessions so we decided to brave the bright sunshine, hot hot heat and humidity to fit this session in before KC grew out of his uniform.    Yeah mon (inside joke).

I’d first met KC a couple of years ago when he and his parents came out to the studio for a session.  We had a blast.  It’s so cool to watch these kids grow up to be bigger kids – there is no greater honor than to be allowed to document this time in a family’s life.  This is KC Fall 2007:

Joliet Children

This session was all KC and focused on his passion for baseball.

This boy is ALL boy.  Every once in awhile I caught a glimpse of what is coming up…

Thanks KC for putting up with the hot humid sticky late morning weather.  Hope you enjoyed Ben Franklin & the Polka Dot and thanks to A for taking the trip out to Wilmington once again for a MarmLocation shoot.  It was great seeing one of my very favorite families.

Skipping Fashionista Friday for today – I have a bunch of stuff to catch up on – I will bring it back next week!  Stay tuned.  🙂

Oh my!!! My boy has changed so very much!! You captured exactly what I was looking for ~ YEAH MON!! As always, many, many thanks for creating such special memories for my family!!
    All the BEST!! Annette

  • Jen - June 27, 2009 - 1:21 am

What a handsome boy. That black and white shot of him is simply amazing. So nice to see photographs of a school age child – all too many parents take this age for granted.

  • Kylie K. - June 27, 2009 - 1:22 am

Love ’em. Just saw your work from the Daily Candy site from a few months ago – I will be calling soon to set up an appointment for my three month old. You are so talentd!

  • Marianne - June 27, 2009 - 1:51 am

Thanks Annette. *I* am so pleased to be able to create these for you. Yeah mon!! xoxox

  • CarmenM - June 27, 2009 - 9:43 am

  • Daveen - June 27, 2009 - 10:22 am

Just perfection!! Love images like these that capture who each child is at that moment.

  • Terrilyn - June 28, 2009 - 10:47 am

Mare, there is something to be said for a photographer who can capture such relaxed images of older children like these. You have such chemistry both with the camera and your subjects, well done!

  • Kristie Chadwick - June 30, 2009 - 1:40 pm

I love these. This is a hard age and he looks so natural.

  • Kimberly - July 2, 2009 - 6:47 am

Perfect. I love that Mom made this session all about *him* and what *he* loves. Mare, you constantly amaze me.

Yesterday’s session was tied up with my day of mentoring one-on-one with the Orlando’s delightful Sarah Bray .  Thank you Sarah for travelling up from the south SOUTH and hanging out for a day with me.  I hope you take away all the good stuff that I had lined up for you!

Back to the session (only one of four that I did not get rained out on in the past seven days!)…I had the pleasure of photographing Faith’s (and Shawn’s) beautiful kids yesterday late morning.  They were wonderful!  So fun!  So happy!  So silly!  I loved meeting them and having the opportunity to see Faith after, I don’t know, what’s it been?  20 years almost??  🙂  So without further delay – some of the most adorably fun kids this side of Chicago!

Ugh, it’s been QUITE the week for photography (or lack thereof) this week.  Hopefully tomorrow & Sunday hold out for me and the clients lined up for the weekend!!  Kristen-I know you’re reading this-can’t wait to see you guys next Friday!!  🙂

Despite the rained out weather – thought I’d drop in for a good dose of FF!  Today is a family session with some Southern inspired clothing.  Several weeks ago I did a session and the dad had mentioned seersucker and it being a "Southern thing!" and that my friends is all it took for the Southern Inspired Fashionista Friday post!!  I hart the Luna Luna Copenhagen dress – I know there’s only limited sizing available (I think it was a Spring 2009 release) but so adorable I couldn’t pass up blogging it.

This past weekend I hosted the last Marmalade See the Light Workshop (for 2009! 🙂 ) at the Wilmington Studio.  I thank all the fabulous photographers for coming out and allowing me to share my business ideas, marketing, post processing, tips and everything else that my brain overflows with regularly.  I had a blast meeting all of you!  Here are a couple outtakes of the shooting festivities.  It was an interesting experience to have my kids participate in on the fun.  🙂

Being one of the lucky ones, I can confirm, it was FUN! If you can go, you should. Marianne is an inspiration and I adore her more now than I did before.

I first met R and his gorgeous parents a couple of years ago.  We did a session around their home in the Roscoe Village ‘hood in the city.  I have never met such a happy-go-lucky guy as R – seriously this guy knows how to have a good time!

Fast forward to yesterday, a slightly overcast day, I drove to see R and his p’s and meet T – the little brother!  We had a fun (and fast!) session – hanging out on the street in front of the shops and in between the buildings.  I had a blast exploring your little corner of the city with you guys!  Thank you Mary for having me out again – it was a BLAST to hang out with the boys.

So enough idle chit chat – on with the sneak peeking!
