I had the pleasure of meeting the A family earlier this week.  They traveled from the Batavia-Geneva area to have a Marmalade Location session amongst all the gorgeous fall color.  Thanks to Greta & David for bringing out their gorgeous kids, we got some spectacular images…I am sure you are going to love love them!

The minute A sat down by little S she snuggled up next to her and gave this gorgeous, sweet expression.  Love sister sessions!

A’s idea-she did so well.  I think she’s still waiting for Vogue to call her for the magazine cover!  🙂

Thank you A Family!

    beautiful family and pics

I am having a fantastic busy season, seeing all sorts of past Marmalade favorites and meeting all sorts of wonderful new families.  The S Family was no exception.

When their mom, Betsy, called to book we hit it off immediately, I love when I’m right.  We created gorgeous art together!  It’s not hard when you work with beautiful and happy families.  It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to chronicle these moments of joy and happiness for people, I truly have the best clients and the best job in the world.

Here’s a few sneak peeks from your gorgeous session with your gorgeous kids:

Thank you S Family!

Beautiful children and AMAZING images. I’ve been following your blog for awhile great stuff.

I like to mix it up and it’s been awhile since I posted a miscellaneous post.  Don’t want this seasonal one to be belated anymore than it has.  😀

One of our traditions as a family is to go to our favorite pumpkin farm.  We’re very lucky that our favorite farm is located only a few miles away but realistically I’d be willing to drive an hour to visit the beautiful Dollinger Family Farm.  It’s in a great location in a scenic setting along the I&M canal near the Illinois River.

We went to Dollinger’s a few weeks back and I’ve been meaning to post about the beekeeper I met during our visit.  Stephen owns Macholz Honey Farm and is an amazing resource for all things "bee" related.  I spent about 20 minutes picking his brain about honey bees and the process of making beeswax candles and hearing about the history of beekeeping, some details about the Queen Bee and bees in the wild.

Here’s a few images to spark some naturally sweet goodness in your life this Wednesday morning.  If you can please visit Stephen at Dollinger Farm he is there every weekend.  Dollinger Farm is open 7 days/week until the end of October.  It’s a great free family activity!

Honey

Did you know that honey is the only food stuff that doesn’t spoil?  In a sealed container honey can last thousands of years.  No joke!  Archaeologists have dug up jars of honey that were found in unearthed Egyptian tombs hanging out with mummies that were buried there. The honey was 3000 years old, or perhaps even older, and it was still perfectly edible.  I don’t know that I’d try it but someone apparently did! 😀

The docile honeybee

I wish I had my macro lens, the gentle honey bee.  No need to fear them, just let them do their thing…

Wild bee hive

Stephen had this example of what a hive structure looks like in the wilderness, pretty cool

beeswax candlemaking

Pouring beeswax into a form for hand crafted beeswax candles.  I bought a few – they smell sweet.

Finished beeswax candles

Beautiful finished beeswax candles

Thank you Macholz Honey Farm for taking the time out of your busy Sunday a few weeks back to stop & chat.

I’ve been photographing Becca’s beautiful kids for a long time, I’ve been blessed to have such amazing clients who *get* it and spread the word to their friends who get it too and in this case, meeting Becca and the amazing J&M happened very early on in my photography career.

J is an amazing, energetic and beautiful girl (those who come to the studio to see samples of images may recognize her as the girl in the hat on the blue wall)  and M is a bundle of adorableness rolled up into cuteness and topped with a good dose of handsome.  I love working with them so much, it gives me great joy to produce these amazing images for Becca and her family.

Thank you for coming out to the studio last week for a Marmalade Location session.  I think you will be thrilled with these images:

THIS is exactly why people should use an experienced professional custom photographer; these images are beautiful, emotional, and timeless!

    lovely!

Whoa!  What a whirlwind couple of weeks.  On a sort of last minute basis I shifted a couple client sessions around and was able to attend a photography workshop on the West Coast.  A whirlwind of activity preceded my departure for the Bay Area which included this session for a beautiful family that happens to be an old Marmalade Favorite!

Jorie,  it was a joy seeing your gorgeous kids and to finally meet little E.  Thank you for allowing me to capture the spontaneity and grace of your beautiful family.

Gorgeous E who shines, just like her shirt says she should.

As for the photography workshop, I am humbled and amazed and cannot wait to get a free moment to get caught up on things so I can peek and edit a few images to show everyone.  Stay tuned!
