It was a pleasure to see the G Family again this past week for an urban session out at the studio. Sessions with boys…teenage boys in fact, are some of my favorites because they are always so fun and relaxed. This session was certainly no exception. I adored seeing how these guys have grown in the past couple of years and seeing their beautiful parents once again who are always so gracious and kind.
We had an amazing time and got some amazing images. G Family – I adore you!

These kids are fun & amazing. Thanks to their family for allowing me to photograph them once again!

I love weather.com and all but they were so wrong the other day in their forecast for the afternoon. In the morning the forecast for the 3-7 p.m. area time slot was 10% showers and it maintained that until it was time for me to leave for the session. I arrived at the Wilmington studio and the sky turned grey and opened up!
It got to a drizzle by the time Little E and his lovely mom arrived. I felt bad…I normally pay close attention to the weather on iffy days. They braved the fun (?!?!) Chicago traffic and they made it to me, I didn’t want to waste their time. Little E’s mom graciously said: "Let’s just do it! A little rain will be fine." and inwardly I jumped for joy because rain sessions can be a blast (if you have the weatherproof gear to deal with the drizzle anyway).
So we did. I want to thank the remarkable Little E and his beautiful mom for a wonderful session. I cannot wait until you get to see them all, they’re so fun and spontaneous, just like little E.

Little E thank you for a terrific session!

This past weekend I spent an amazing late afternoon with some of my favorite clients, the B Family. I had the pleasure of photographing little E and her mom, aunt and grandmother a few years back when she was just a wee one and my oh my has this little one grown!! What an adorable cutie – and boy does she LOVE the camera!!

and since I’ve seen her last time she’s picked up a baby sister:

isn’t she the cutest?
I also had an opportunity to photograph their Aunt Sam who is a high school senior. We got an opportunity to do an urban session in her prom dress, cross country gear and some adorable casual outfits (in the near dark no less!) Thankfully we finished the session just in time because I think we were having so much fun that we’d *still* be out there!! Here are a couple of Sam:

…I wasn’t kidding about the darkness. It’s like someone put a blanket over the sky and we lost all light – we still worked it tho:

Thank you B Family!! I loved catching up with you again!

Hi blogland! What is it that they say about good intentions?
My intentions were big for the blog for July posts but alas that’s all fallen by the wayside as we round down to the end of the month. I can hardly believe back to school shopping is here and the kids will be in school in less than a month! Where has summer gone?
Before I get to the "what I did this summer" part of the blog, I’d love to ask you, the blog reader, to vote for Marmalade Photography for Chicago area Family Photographer. Please follow the link here:

(Part of) What We Did this summer:
Part of summer 2010 was spent in beautiful North Carolina. We spent several days in the mountains in the Ashville area near a small town called Brevard. We stayed up up UP in the mountains at a fabulous resort…I’ll post more about that in my next entry. The remainder of our time away was spent in gorgeous North Topsail Beach, NC. We stayed at a lovely home right on the beach with remarkable views of the sand with the rolling waves of the Atlantic greeting us daily. THAT was the life.
Because photos are worth 1,000 words I’ll let you be the judge of the insane relaxation and beauty. I only got my camera out a handful of times while we were gone because I was so sick almost the whole time away. But I want to go back (now!) Is it time to go back to the beach?

I think I want a career in photographing families frolicking on vacation and just hanging out with them for the week or so. Any takers?
Thank you for stopping in.
